Assertiveness

Assertiveness is the ability to stand up for your own, or other people's, rights in a calm and positive way.

Do you find yourself being talked over, pushed around and put upon by customers, bosses, colleagues and even your family and friends?
Or are you more of an aggressive type, insisting on your own way regardless of other people’s feelings?

 
Neither approach works very well.
When you are submissive, people walk all over you and you lose your self-confidence.
When you are aggressive, you alienate others.
The best communication modality is assertiveness.

 
With assertiveness, you will have the confidence to state your case while still remaining in open communication.
 
Knowing and understanding your personal values and boundaries is an important key to gaining self-esteem and
​self-confidence. Effectively communicating your feelings and opinions in an open and honest manner helps to deter others from undermining and dominating you and builds respectful and loyal working relationships.


Assertiveness Training from Helen Pettifer Training is an interactive course designed to build your self-confidence and assertiveness in both personal and professional situations.
After attending the Assertiveness training, delegates will:
  • Understand the need for assertiveness
  • Recognise the 4 different styles of behaviour
  • Have identified and set business and personal values and boundaries
  • Know how to say ‘No’ without feeling guilty
  • Know how to effectively communicate feelings and opinions to others
  • Be able to relate assertiveness to a business environment
  • Have skills and techniques to respond appropriately and assertively in any situation​
Assertiveness Training can be delivered in-house with between 1 and 16 delegates.
Every delegate will receive a workbook, certificate of completion, and leave with key action points to implement what they have learned when they are back in their daily lives at work and at home.
