Course Summary.

Supporting bereaved families is central to the role of a funeral director. This course is designed to help funeral directors and their teams build confidence and practical communication skills, enabling them to respond with empathy, professionalism, and sensitivity when supporting individuals and families experiencing loss, often for the first time or following the death of a close relative.

The training course explores the language of bereavement, the impacts of bereavement, the impact of grief, understanding the customer’s priorities, navigating sensitive conversations. It also focusses on the emotional and practical needs of bereaved individuals , including those facing terminal illness alongside tools for self-care and supporting colleagues.

Delegates will take part in reflective discussion, practical activities, and case studies relevant to funeral settings, while also exploring how to care for their own wellbeing and support colleagues.
